Mason County Health Department

General Information

 

Mason County Health Department was established in 1937 to provide a variety of services to preserve, protect and promote the health and well-being of the residents of Mason County.

The department provides preventive health services directly or through community partnerships to more than 25,000 residents. Registered nurses, a registered sanitarian and clerks work to promote good health and prevent disease and injury through:

  • immunizations of infants children and adults
  • health assessments referrals and counseling
  • environmental protection of clean air and safe water
  • and enforcement of health and safety codes to ensure standards are met.

Residents and businesses. receive permits, inspections and environmental services including education of food handlers and dealing with animal problems.

The staff promotes healthy lifestyles through:

  • educational program
  • materials health fairs and media,
  • disease surveillance,
  • sexually transmitted disease testing and counseling
  • and treatment and TB (tuberculosis) testing and follow-ups

This office is responsible for the total School Health Program for Mason County.

This office also responds to disasters and assists in recovery.
