THE THIRD FORT RANDOLPH

Built in 1974 for the U.S. Bicentennial. The third Fort Randolph was erected at Krodel Park approximately one mile from the original site. It was constructed at a cost of $99,000.00 and consisted of a palisade of logs and two log cabins’ on the rear corners. This fort was never used on a regular basis.

In 1996, the City Council of the City of Point Pleasant established a committee of local citizens to resurrect the fort. A total of $105,000.00 was raised and used to build a large log building for a trading post and two log blockhouses built on the front corners. Also included in the overall project is a ca 1840 Pioneer cabin, “The Conard Cabin,” that was dismantled and transported to Krodel Park from Tabnor Moore road in Mason County, and restored out side of the fort. Connecting the Pioneer cabin and the Fort is a walking trail highlighting the native flora of the pioneer days.
